Im Anfang war das Wort, und das Wort war bei Gott, und das Wort war Gott. (Johannes 1,1)

Worte – Über tausend mal kommt der Begriff "Wort" oder "Worte" in der Bibel vor. Die Bibel nennt man auch "Das Wort Gottes". Dies hat durchaus seine Richtigkeit, denn wie können wir etwas über Gott erfahren? Es gibt drei grundsätzliche Möglichkeiten:

• Wir schauen in die Natur. In der Schöpfung bestaunen wir das, was Gott gemacht hat
• Wir beten zu Gott. Gott erhört Gebete, und wenn es sein Wille ist, antwortete er uns ganz persönlich auf unterschiedliche Weise.
• Wir lesen in der Bibel. Hier erfahren wir nicht nur, was Gott mit einzelnen Menschen gemacht hat. Durch Bibelverse kann Gott ganz persönlich zu uns sprechen. Das Wort Gottes ist also überaus wichtig.

Der erste Bibelvers hier ist aus einem Psalm. Die Psalmen stehen im Alten Testament und waren das Liederbuch der Juden.
Was bedeutet das, was wir hier lesen? Es ist ein Bild. Wenn man wirklich reines Silber haben möchte, muß man es schmelzen und dadurch von etwaigem unreinen Beiwerk trennen. Wenn man diesen Schmelzvorgang und die Reinigung gleich siebenmal durchgeführt hat, kann man absolut sicher sein, daß das Endprodukt zu hundert Prozent rein ist. Außerdem bedeutet die Zahl "sieben" in der Bibel immer, daß etwas vollkommen und oft genug gemacht worden ist. Was Gott zu uns redet, ist also wirklich zu hundert Prozent verläßlich.
Der zweite Ausspruch aus der Bibel stammt von Johannes. Er beginnt damit sein Buch. Dies ist für ihn also von grundlegender Wichtigkeit. Er setzt die Begriffe "Wort" und "Gott" in direkten Bezug zueinander. Hast Du Dir schon einmal über den sogenannten Urknall Gedanken gemacht? Was war ganz am Anfang? Nichts? Ja, das denken auch die Wissenschaftler. Im ersten Buch der Bibel steht ebenfalls, daß am Anfang Leere war. Doch dann kommt: "Und Gott sprach..." Ein einziges Wort von Gott genügt, und das Resultat ist: Es ist etwas. Dies ist die Allmacht Gottes. Und mit diesem Wort Gottes wollen wir uns beschäftigen.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1,1)

Words - More than a thousand times we come across "word" or "words" in the Bible. The Bible we also call "The Word of God". This is fully right. How do we get information about or from God? We have three basic possibilities:

• We look at nature. Here we see what God has created.
• We pray to Got. He listens to every prayer, and if it is his will he also answers to our requests.
• We read in the Bible. Here we do not only learn what God had done with all kinds of people. Through individual verses of the Bible God may speak to us very personally. So the Word of God is very important for us.

The first verse from the Bible is taken from a Psalm. The Psalms we find in the Old Testament of the Bible, and they are the songbook of the Jews.
What dose it mean what we are reading here? It is a parable. When you want to get real pure silver you have to melt it and thus separate it from all kinds of impure accessories. When having done the process of purification seven times one may be absolutely sure that one receives a product that is a hundred percent pure. Apart from that the number "seven" in the Bible always means a complete quantity. So what God says we may really trust in a hundred percent.
The second verse from the Bible is from John. That is how he begins his book. So this is of essential importance to him. The expressions "word" and "God" he puts into direct relationship one to the other. Have you ever reflected upon the so called Big Bang? What had there been in the very beginning? Nothing? Yes, that is what scientists think as well. In the first book of the Bible we also read that in the very beginning there had been emptiness. Yet then we read: "And God spoke ...." One single Word of God is enough, and the result is: Something is. These are the deeds of the almighty God. This Word of God we want to ponder upon.
